Jury Citation
The jury agreed that Arup Workplace, Perth/Boorloo is an exemplar of a holistic sustainability approach that employs a considered light touch and responsible use of resources. It is housed in WS2, Perth’s first hybrid-timber office tower, and features a central three-level void cut from the cross-laminated timber (CLT) slabs. The removed panels have been used in raised platforms throughout the space and elsewhere, recycled timber has been deployed for wall linings, joinery carcasses and locally sourced and fabricated furniture. Arup Workplace, Perth/Boorloo achieved Platinum WELL Building Standards and its design decisions are evidence-based and backed by data, providing a well-rounded, proven outcome for the workplace.
