Panorama House is joyful, sophisticated and colourful and has an enviable liveable ease. It responds expertly to each program, with different areas of the home expressing their own identity through their specific decoration. The jury applauded its nuanced colour study, which responds space by space, room by room. From the monastic bedroom to the more activated public areas and the highly functional bar, the use of coloured joinery defines the different zones, giving each a distinct personality. The materiality has a strong presence and the contrasting textures and forms augment this original project. Specially selected off-the-shelf pieces sit in a refined way and work to amplify the custom designed furnishings. One jury member commented that while the use of colour is bold, it’s also very approachable, and given this is a home for a young family, it makes for a great example of good design.
